We're happy to share 4 investments as part of our First Bite initiative - and opening it back up for new applications 🌏

We announced First Bite a few months ago, offering $50k investments to idea-stage and just-launched alt-protein startups in APAC.

Today we announce the first teams we're investing in:

Allium Bio (Singapore), co-culturing microalgae and mycelium to create more sustainable and more functional ingredients, starting with protein isolate. Co-founded by entrepreneur Jon Ho and biochemistry PhD Albertus Sarwono, previously a researcher at A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research

Cultivaer (Singapore), a stealth-mode startup developing novel bioreactor-free tech that could reduce costs and accelerate the scalability of fermentation-derived alt proteins. The co-founders hold PhDs in bioengineering and food science.

EatKinda (New Zealand), crafting creamy plant-based ice cream from cauliflower, utilising cosmetically imperfect vegetables. Co-founded by food technologist Mrinali Kumar and vegan chef Jenni Matheson.

Klever Meat (India), the country’s first cultivated seafood startup. Co-founded by serial entrepreneur Nithin Shetty and cell biology PhD Swapnil Kamble.

We're excited to see the impact from these new approaches and projects!

ps - if you are planning or recently started an alt protein startup in Asia Pacific, new applications are open - apply here before May 19th
